Why You Need a VPAT / ACR

What you actually need is the Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR) based on VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template). VPAT is just a "template", and ACR is a result of your audited product based on VPAT. It is the industry-standard document used to show how your product meets accessibility requirements. Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR) — is often required when:

  • selling SaaS to enterprise buyers,
  • entering government or public-sector procurement,
  • expanding into US, Canadian, or EU markets,
  • responding to vendor security & accessibility reviews,
  • proving compliance with WCAG, Section 508, or EN 301 549 laws

A well-prepared ACR can be the difference between winning or losing a deal. This service provides accurate, defensible documentation, backed by hands-on accessibility testing — not copy-paste claims.

VPAT Standards Supported

VPAT 2.5 — Section 508 (US)

  • Based on WCAG 2.0 AA - Required for products sold into the US federal markets
  • Preferred by many enterprise clients

VPAT 2.5 — EU Accessibility Standard (EN 301 549)

  • Based on WCAG 2.1 AA
  • Required under EU accessibility legislation (EAA)
  • Necessary for organizations operating in the EU public sector

WCAG 2.2 Report (AA or AAA)

Future-proof accessibility documentation for teams proactively aligning with the latest WCAG success criteria. You can choose one standard, or request a combined VPAT package.

How the Process Works

  1. Identify WCAG Standard
Most commonly WCAG 2.1 AA (also for EAA), you can also opt in for WCAG 2.2 AA. Define testing environment - desktop: macOS, Chrome, VoiceOver or NVDA; mobile: Android, Chrome & TalkBack or iOS & VoiceOver.
  2. Product to Review
Define the pages, templates or flows to audit. Access to your SaaS platform, web app, or product demo with all functionalities is needed.
  3. Accessibility Audit
I conduct a full WCAG-based review, based on the standard required. I mostly used manual testing with combination of automated testing. Why not fully automated? There is a lot of automated tools, but most of them can give false negatives or positives. I manually test against all WCAG criteria by visual inspection, inspecting the code, using the keyboard and screen reader.
  4. Audit Report
Clear report with all the issues' details and their locations, including screenshots or screen recordings if needed.
  5. Recommended Fixes
List of issues with guidance on how to fix them. Code or design examples based on the issue.
  6. ACR Creation based on VPAT
From the audit, I create and format a complete, accurate Accessibility Conformance Report.

FAQ

Do you offer fast turnaround?
Faster delivery is available depending on scope. I provide the estimated deadline for all audits.
Do you test accessibility of whole digital product?
I test the product pages/flows specified initially. Those are tested for all WCAG criteria of chosen version including full user flows, interactive components, forms, navigation, contrast, screen reader, etc. This is also tested on mobile devices and for responsive behavior.
Can you help fix issues found during the ACR?
Absolutely — I offer design, front-end, and process guidance.
Are the VPAT templates official?
Yes — all reports follow the official VPAT 2.x format.
What is the difference between WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2? A and AA?
Those are different versions of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. The WCAG 2.1 contains 50 criteria, and WCAG 2.2 56. The European Accessibility Act (EAA) and ADA (and Title II) require WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, and Section 508 requires WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility.
What does A, AA and AAA mean?
A, AA and AAA refer to level of accessibility. A goes for minimum accessibility, AA is standard and AAA is the highest. I recommend complying the A level first, before continuing with AA. AAA is very difficult to achieve, and also requires additional resources for compliance.
